Lyrics

My voice has never been as smooth as velvet, Always on pitch and flawless to the last note and word. Neither has it been as balanced as an acrobat, Always the right volume and never loud or cracking. My voice is more like a staticky stereo, Often getting things wrong and rasping off-pitch. It never seems right and I always mess up, Speaking too loud or soft or high or low. It seems my friends have perfect voices, Rarely breaking and always meeting the right pitch. They sometimes crack but rarely, Even when they say they do my mind says they're exaggerating. So why don't I sing like so many of my friends, I ask myself and wonder. Is it because I don't know a song that isn't creepy, Or that my voice isn't strong or high or confident enough? I laugh and smile when they sing to me, and wish that I dared to return the favor. But my mind says there's too many people, Too many outcomes, but that I'd sing if I could.
