Well I wanted to write a new song But I didn't know where to start I wanted it full of beauty, full of power I wanted it to be a true song To tell it from the heart But then I thought "Fuck it, I've only got half an hour." So this is my new song I only wrote it this afternoon A little bit blue song With a slightly wistful chorus tune Though I hate to have to read things off the page (Yes I do) If I don't the chords might go a little bit strange So this is my new song And if its originality is in doubt Then this is a "screw you" song Y'know, it ain't easy churning this shit out And in a couple of months it won't be new anymore (No it won't) And you'll all have heard it a dozen times or more It'll just be an old song Disappointingly not obscene Just another Pete Gold song To stick on my album at track 14 And don't forget you can buy my CD today (If you haven't already) Just by clicking on petegold.co.uk So this is my new song It's not quite finished
