Lyrics

[Commentary: Wax, Kush Mody, Both] Uh, nope, yeah, just do the adibs Just the adlibs Yup. So, this one is called "Shit I Used to Do" shoutout to my man Jonathan Asperil. I actually originally did the this song with him I'm, and he helped me come up with the chorus, and then I wrote the lyrics, and then me and Kush totally recontextualized the whole thing into like a kinda- like a neo-soul kinda world Yeah, yeah Y'know. And It's basically a reflection on how I used to live life and how I live life now. the first verse being, I used to kinda live in this crazy party drinking drugs, like drive drunk kinda att- kinda lifestyle where like, often ends bad for people and it's like, "I cant believe I used to do that" that shit I used to do, I wouldn't do it now. The second verse talks about things that I used to say that I wouldn't say now, and really like kinda talks about I think a lot of people are gonna be weird about that verse because, you know some people are so like, "don't ever apologize for shit you did" but I harshly disagree with that. I have a tons of stuff, that I did in the past, that I wouldn't do now. And it's like I told people that, people are like, "man you've changed" I'm like- Good! Good, I changed for the better. I learn, grow and get into- y'know what I'm saying? Absolutely So, it'll be interesting to see what people, how people react to that. And then the last verse is like more like, about your body not being able to do the things that it used to do. Straight up physical, y'know, like- like there's a time in your life where you gotta give up skateboarding, or at least give up doing kickflips Dude, that line about like your mind is like, "oh yeah, I can do this" and your body is like, "nope" that- that is- is so true because there's like this muscle memory where like you know how to do it but you're- you just over exert yourself and you're just- That shit happens to me all the time. Gotta happen crazy for like gymnasts and basketball players, y'know? Yeah, your mind is like, "oh yeah, I know this" and you just kinda go on autopilot. And then, forgetting that like, you know this shit's rusty as hell We gotta mention that MonoNeon played bass Oh yeah. Dude This bridge is so funky Max Miller-Loran on trumpet and I think that bridge, besides riffs, that's another things where I think me and you kinda influence is, A: like the D'Angelo Voodoo album, and B: like that sounds like some shit that a band I used to be in would play like funk music. Yeah, yeah Y'know what I'm saying? So, I don't know, we were both excited about that little part right there. I was really excited when you sent me the uh, trumpet part. I was like, "oh, damn" Yeah, yo- dude, Max fuckin' crushed it My brother loves this one. Shoutout to Herbal T. I wanted to ask you about the drums on this song Uh huh 'Cause when you sent me back the way you mixed the drums, I was like, "oh, shit" like, you made them smaller than I thought. And when I f- like at first I was like, "now that's weird" and then like, it didn't take me long to be like, "oh, shit, I like this." you know? Yeah, a- And those snappy snare drums, y'know, and the kick too It, you know- I'm just trying- really trying to make sure that the whole thing, the whole album, fits together, and a big loud in-your-face drum sound would stick out so much, you know? Nice double entendre on "stick" when you're talking about drum sounds. But yeah, sometimes big drums gotta beat it, kick 'em out of here. This is the end [Outro] Aw, shit!
