Lyrics

[Commentary: Wax & Kush Mody] This song is called Lucy. This starts- the last three songs on the album are really a trilogy. yeah the trilogy is, in this song, is the breakup. The song Heal a Broken Heart is dealing with the feeling of having a broken heart that you never think is gonna fuckin' go away. And then the last song Don't Give a Damn No More is when it finally DOES go away; And you know it's such a slow process that you just wake up one day and go " oh my god I- I don't- Im healed, I don't give a shit anymore" you know. and uhm, this one I was inspired to write this when I took a a trip back to my hometown and just made me think of the relationship I was in when I moved to the west coast and the relationship fell apart. Like that line right there is kinda like, we didn't break up- granted we were incompatible, but the breakup really was because we had different individual goals, you know what I mean? mmh, sure So it made the thing sadder, 'cause its not like somebody cheated, its not like somebody- it was THAT kinda fight. Y'know we had fights and shit but it was really like "I wanna do this, you wanna do that, we gotta we gotta part" you know. So it was it was sad and it fucked me up for a while and I wrote this song just as an acoustic song and uh, took it to Kush and it became, you know. How would you describe what it became? Uh, to me it's very influenced by The Beatles. yeah uh, you got that the Mellotron yeah the Strawberry Fields intro. uhm, yeah this part thats dun dun dun dun dun dun, you know thats so Paul Mccartney uh, yeah you got more of that Khruangbin drum and guitar kinda tone I love the bridge Very dreamy, yeah It's just yeah very somber. you know, the funny thing is, I was kinda going through a break up uh, when I was in the middle of producing this song, it was just the timing It was weird wasn't it? It was, yeah. Looking back I feel like it definitely got infused with a certain energy, 'cause it was just the headspace I was in. This next part, "because without your love I" I remember we changed that melody a bunch of times yeah, we went through a couple versions but uh, I like where we ended up Alanis Morissette joint. And it'd be interesting- and again- I think you s- I think you sing it really well It's hard for me to tell. I love this part though, I love this part, "…follow you and delete your number" uhm, yeah the vocals on this one are- are really strong It's always hard for me to tell like I said, because I'm not like that kind of singer. I'm not a singer that does a lot of runs, I have not that great of a range I'm just telling you what it is, so its hard for me to be like "am I emitting the emotion that this is supposed to have?" and I think it- I think so -I mean it is what it is, and if you don't- you know how music is man, you connect or you don't, and if you connect sometimes you can connect hard absolutely I wanted to ask you something else about this song, but If you want to hear what I wanted to ask him you gotta look at our instagram content.
