Don’t Give a Damn No More (Commentary)

Lyrics
[Commentary: Wax & Kush Mody] We arrived. The conclusion of the trilogy and the album. Wow, yeah. I love- this is my favorite one Yeah This is my favorite one on the album. I randomly came up with this chorus. It popped into my head when I was hiking Oh, really? By myself in San Diego, yeah Yeah, when you sent it to me, I got Otis Redding, but also Credence Clearwater vibes, so that's the direction that I went in in the production It's funny because if you hear the voice memo, it's like- it's like way slower than this Way slower, yeah I don't even know what I was thinking, but- but yeah, by the time I sent it to you, it was like- here's the voice memo [Voice Memo: Wax] In the blink of an eye, life passes by And your memories might as well just be dreams All them tears that you cried, love gone awry [Commentary: Wax, Kush Mody, Both] Alright Yeah That's what it initially was, uhm, yeah. I was actually just listening to it. "In the blink of an eye, life passes by" Yeah, it's got a Ob-La-Di kinda- Yeah, yeah -Kinda thing going on Yeah, this is- this is an example of an interesting one because like, you want it- it's like you want it to sound like Ob-La-Di, but in a way. Like we didn't- like you write a song, and then you're doing it, and you're like, "oh, this sounds like Ob-La-Di" especially the bassline, but you- you gotta switch it a little bit so you're not bitin', you know? Yeah, I mean the- the bassline goes between Ob-La-Di, uh The intro of Dock of the Bay Yeah, the "dum, dum-dum, dum, dum" yeah. And then, there's uh, there's definitely like this Credence kinda thing with uh "dum-dun-dun-dum-dun-dun-dum-dun-dun-dum" Yeah, and that's the whole feel of it; it has that trucker rock. It'd be on like one of those cassette tapes back in the day that'd be at the truck stop, and it was called like "Truckin' Music" y'know? Yeah With CCR and Truckin' By the Dead uh, some kind of Eagles or something Exactly I love this part. For me, it was cool to write this one 'cause like, uh, I don't know like, these aren't chord changes that I would normally write, and I think it's weird how like major and minor chords of the same roots- Yeah -Can go together in a song so well Yeah, you go from that uh, uh C major to C minor Before it ends On that heartbreak you had- Yeah -Right here, C, C minor, yeah Yeah That's nice That uh, what's two below C and B? B flat yeah, B flat I mean. That also has the minor in it, in this song, you know Yeah, yup, yup I don't understand how that works, how is that possible? It's music theory, baby That's the whole album *Laugh*
