Lyrics

When they're sweeping up and floors and laying all the chairs out in a line And the manager tells me that they're closing and I'd better take what's mine And the light refracts through a shot gla** and sprays across my Silvertone guitar I'm gonna walk deep into that night but I don't believe I'm gonna get that far When all is said and done there's not a whole more that you need to tell So I wish you a fond farewell When they've added up the figures and tables that measure up to my life And they take dictation from my children and spend a few hours with my wife I hope it all turns out to have been worth all of the fuss At the end of the day what more can be said for all of us I remember so much love from so many people that I can't recall today But every mark upon me is one I could never hope to clear away And as we fade into the ether we provide nourishment and fodder for the soil To be replaced by big machines and derricks to dig deep down in hope for chance of oil
