Lyrics

[Verse 1] I was thinking about death again In the backseat of an SUV As it hurtled down an empty street I saw an advertisement for a morgue Wonder what they bought that billboard for Do they treat it like a museum Are the bodies all preserved So that people can walk around and see them And if they know what happens, will they be more reassured [Verse 2] On the billboard there were two dead feet Little white tag tied around the big toe Hanging against the sole Quite the sight to be confronted with In the backseat of an SUV Tired and cold [Bridge] And I wonder how would those people feel If they knew they were on display Would some relish the attention that they never got in life While others wish they could hide their faces away [Instrumental] [Verse 3] There've been three deaths in the family The first one was my mother's father I met him once when I was two The second was my father's father I talked to him a couple times A scared kid in a hospital room [Bridge] And I wondered what happened to them Were their bodies made up nice Did they look like they were sleeping Or did they look like they had died [Outro] And pancreatic cancer's such a cruel thief of time I didn't know my uncle that well But I know my aunt had so many more years in mind But what can I say and what I can I do In the face of something so huge? I shouldn't make this about myself But it reminds me of how much I have to lose
