Past, Present, Future

Lyrics
Take a trip with me upon this memory lane The 7th Avenue, the area where I came The past pain now comes back upon a flood A place of bars and clubs, down the street The mafioso-type sold them drugs And thugs found their way into Their lives are lost living Enough to send you to the brinks of extinction Reflecting back upon my adolescent leave me thinking Where would I be if I mained in that environment to the day But God sought fit to give me that grace to truly save Me from that ghetto, my mental can never let go But things be getting complex, not ever simple Divorce left me shattered, my esteem bruised and battered Coz nothing mattered, my soul was straight-up tattered But God's reaching forth with these hands of reconstruction Taking off these weights that was crushing But I'm discussing the 7th Avenue The place where I learned what was true And what was fake, it's time to take You back upon this self-autobiography But only those that truly see will come along with me So clearly we speak forth the 7th Avenue discourse I once was lost but now I'm straight-up still lost Until the 1 that paid the cost reached forth with eternity Just a 7th Ave. memory 22 long hard years I'm still struggling I'm blasting forward to the present The place where I represent b. homes for them violent lifestyles We buried a juvenile a few months ago Overdosing on cocaine, ran himself through a window His life be gone, never to be coming back My area of sin, welfare and dealers selling crack What's up with that, they be killing off communities But on the other hand, tell me that they down to be Promoting unity, but in the neighborhood suicide 16 years old, killed off in drive-by's Right behind my church, my eyes search Coz life today has so little worth coz it hurts What people will be doing to one another They used to be brothers But now they just duck, run for cover When shots be out firing, them ambulance sirens You out looking for work but now there ain't nobody hiring So you striving to make that money By all means necessary even if it leaves you buried At 21, you living by the gun You gone's to die by the gun so where you at son? In the eyes of the only 1 watching over you You claim to be true but in the end you lose You choose the avenue, it's a short fuse Set to explode before you even reload Now comes the time, I'm peering into the future What does it hold for me, I do not have these answers I just begin to wonder, contemplating on my dreams The thinkings of the past and present, to me it seems That God guides all things, it's all upon His hands And if I trust in Him then He gives me a place to stand Many become the plans in the man's heart But only God gives the man the plan to stretch his dreams forth I do my part to make this world a better place But only that it seems is the stressing that I face My past has been erased, my present now holds hope I'm peering into the future coz I know I'll be able to cope And one thing that I'm knowing in this world that constantly changes That only Christ watching out for me upon a daily basis So I can face this whatever be coming at me And even if the future seems to hold uncertainty Coz certainly God will rule upon all things And deep within my heart, there comes the well That springs forth everlasting, I be basking in this flow Of a God that watches over me every single place I go So, who do you think you are son? Coz life ain't just cash, money, herb and your cars The stars in your eyes will soon begin to fall Coz in the view of God now you looking kinda small You standing tall and now you sticking out your chest But I wonder where you at and when they lay your body to rest Coz will you be blessed by this eternal Life-Giver? Or standing at the gates begging out just to enter The paradise but my advice is this To turn your life to Him coz ignorance is not bliss And you can make a wish but all amounts to nothing Coz past and present gone, future now is coming
