The Saucy Bold Robber

Lyrics
Come all you good people that goes out a-tippling I pray give attention and hark to me song I'll tell you all a story of a jolly bold robber He stood seven feet high, and in proportion quite strong Well he robbed Lawyer Morgan and old Lady Dawkings Five hundred bright guineas from each one of them; And as he was patrollin' a sailor come a-strollin' And bold as a lion he slewed up to him "Hand over your money, mean gallant young sailor There's plenty of bulk in your pocket I know." "Aye aye," said the sailor, "I've got a bit of money But I'm damned if I see why I should give it to you." "I've just left me ship, gave the press gang the slip And I'm off up to London my sweetheart to see Seven shiny sovereigns will pay our sweet lodgings Well I pray you jolly robber, please leave it to me." But the robber caught hold of that gallant young sailor With a blow like a pick-axe knocked him to the ground "Oh aye," said the sailor, "You've hit me quite heavy But now I'll endeavour to repay you in kind." It was then boys they stripped and like tigers they skipped And they fought blow for blow like soldiers in the field But the ninety-seventh meeting it was their completing For the saucy bold robber boy the sailor was killed And the sailor looked at that blood-stained old robber "I hope you'll forgive me, dear fellow," says he "But if I had just lifted one thousand bright guineas Well I'm damned if I'd have stopped a poor sailor like me."
