Lyrics

He walked alone into a crowded room A man alone against all social rule A scarred body and a voice of doom Obscene words and offensive tunes I saw him writhing on the dusty ground He bled enough for a man to drown The smell of death in the humid air The hot club was like a dragon's lair Webbed in blood and black and blue He suffered all these things for you I never heard him on the radio But I saw him on a TV show I saw the people sitting in the rows They seemed disgusted by his vulgar tones And then I met him at a record store And he was different than he was before To some of us it was a rhapsody Yet comprehension was a meager thing Endless hate and bad reviews He suffered all these things for you Some people value only melody There's nothing wrong with that mentality But don't confuse that with sincerity They say disposable what do they mean? Some saw him as an evil fiend Some worshiped as a deity I saw an artist though he was extreme With dedication that was seldom seen Webbed in blood and black and blue He suffered all these things for you
