Lyrics

[Intro] I've been wandering the streets of the Theater District Since I made my Broadway debut in 1971 At the Billy Rose Theatre, now the Nederlander Back then, Times Square was dangerous and filthy Peep shows, porn houses, prostitutes, junkies I had to step over bodies to get to the stage door It was fabulous Now the Theater District is so clean You could eat off these streets Literally, there are café tables in thе middle of Broadway But I still love it And being hеre in the shadow of the old Studio 54 Makes me nostalgic for the seventies I miss New York City bankrupt! I miss the cab strike, the garbage strike The subway strike, the blackout But most of all, I miss the dollar-twenty-nine Steak, baked potato, and garlic bread You could get at Tad's Steak House
