Song Meaning
Deep within a forest lies a peculiar circus, presided over by a towering, big-eyed ringmaster. Its performers are described as "愉快" (cheerful) and "楽しい" (fun), despite their strange appearances – a "二つあたま" (two-headed) act, a "異形の歌姫" (monstrous diva), and a "青いけもの" (blue beast) that consumes "冷たいもの" (cold things).
This cheerful facade quickly cracks, revealing a profound sadness. The lyrics state, "望まれて生まれてきたわけじゃない この身体" (This body wasn't born wanted), and the narrator questions the stares they receive as their "顔が腐食ってく" (face is corroding). The contrast between the circus's supposed joy and the performers' internal suffering is stark and unsettling.
The core of the circus's tragedy lies in its forced continuation. A performer cries, "苦しいよ苦しくて仕方がない" (It hurts, it hurts unbearably), yet the show must go on. The repeated phrase "楽しいよ楽しいよ" (It's fun, it's fun) becomes a desperate mantra, juxtaposed with images of decay: "腐った実" (rotten fruit), "熔ける目" (melting eyes), and "爛れた肌" (rotted skin).
The lyrics powerfully capture a sense of inescapable despair. The plea "死にたいよ死にたいよ ここから出してください" (I want to die, I want to die, please let me out) is met with the chilling response, "それは無理なこと" (That's impossible). The circus, presented as a place of supposed entertainment, is revealed as a prison of suffering, where even the desire for escape is denied.
