Lyrics

The sword of Damocles is hanging over all of us In view of that, what subject can we sensibly discuss If poetry is unpopular then poets are at fault For writing fuss and feathers when they should be writing salt I write my poems a-la-poetry but there are those who don't agree with me Who wrote their poems a-la-prose I saw myself in terms of what I wanted me to be Through eyes that saw for me just what they wanted me to see The only one who knows this ounce of words is just a tokеn Is he who has a tongue to tell, but must rеmain unspoken I find the greatest freedom in the stricture of a poem That paradoxes abnormality within the norm In working out a pair of lines my blood begins to race As foot by foot the words consume the fourteen feet of space My credo may be this that air my dirth of days is past I'll strive to live each one as if it were my first and last The picture in the making here is just another prank of irony Who paints a beggar standing by a bank What I say of science here I say without condition That science is the latest and greatest superstition Carnivores lived on herbivores who lived on plants Were all consumed by omnivores who walked around in pants As mass production masses on the borders of the mind A treaty of surrender is conditionally signed A martyr couldn't be a martyr if the world were good So while he's changing it, he's halfway doubting if he should Considered independently, the city is a curse And only seems a blessing when compared with something worse That saucy little fly on the ceiling is defying the law of gravity Without so much as trying As blind as it was brutal, force was hidden under law As blind as it was brutal, hardly anybody saw A coconut with sprouting sails came sailing in from sea As if it knew the kind of soil that grew its kind of tree Within moments time the final grain of sand will drop Up end your glass Old Man or else the universe will stop!
