Lyrics

New York this mornin', just 'bout half past nine New York this mornin', just 'bout half past nine Avalon's my hometown, always on my mind Avalon's my hometown, always on my mind Pretty mamas in Avalon want me there all the time When I left Avalon, 's throwin' kisses and women at me When I left Avalon... When I left Avalon, throwin' kisses and women at me Says, "Come back daddy, stay right here with me" Says, "Come back daddy"... "Come back daddy, stay right here with me" Hate to tell you, pretty mama, but you have got to know Hate to tell you, pretty mama... I'm leavin' Avalon, and I ain't comin' back no mo' It's one thing I can't understand It's one thing I can't understand Pretty mamas in Avalon, I's but one man Avalon's my home town, got no great big [rain?] Avalon's my home town... Avalon's my home town, got no great big [rain?] Pretty mamas in Avalon sure will spin your chain Pretty mamas in Avalon... [Spoken] Well I recorded in '29. Well, '28 and '29, the first recording was in Memphis, and they said 'for further recording come to New York,' and so I recorded again in New York, so ah... I was leaving Avalon and they all hated to see me leave and, first time away, that's right, my first time away. And so, uh, I just, uh, written that song, uh... And they was wavin' at me, throwing kisses, haha!
