Soliloquy

Lyrics
When he was young, he watched love rip his friends apart So he vowed to cast away his heart He grew older, selfish, rich and alone Heart grew colder, but he prided himself on his heart of stone There is but a cavern where his heart should be Because he locked it up and threw away the key And though he's wealthy, he is looked down upon Because hе can't feel anything for anyone He repulsеs me, but fascinates me all the same Do I tremble out of lust or fear every time he whispers my name? You speak well, warlock, your precious words of art And I might be delighted if I thought you had a heart There is but a cavern where your heart should be Your words are empty and you don't flatter me And though you're wealthy, you are looked down upon Because you don't feel anything for anyone He smiles and leads me away to a dungeon cold and dark An enchanted crystal casket holds the warlock's hairy heart I beseech him to put his heart back in its rightful place And I cry, 'Now you will know true love' as I wrap him in embrace What is wrong? Can't you feel me? This is love — can't you hear me? Why do you step back from me? Where is there hate in your eyes? Why is there a dagger at your side? I would run, but I am paralyzed There is but a cavern where my heart should be 'Cause you took your dagger and you murdered me And you stole my heart once, then you stole it once more And all I ever wanted was for you to adore me He cuts out his heart and tries to replace it with mine Now he has no heart; he falls to the floor and he dies
