Lyrics

[Verse 1] Yeah we got stoned at the family reunion for obvious reasons There was too much food, not enough booze And there was nothing really vegetarian So me and my cousin Steve We went down to the swings We had ourselves a little puff [Chorus] And we got stoned at the family reunion for obvious reasons [Spoken] That's the sing-along part, it just says "we got stoned at the family reunion for obvious reasons" We'll try it together [Chorus] Yeah we got stoned at thе family reunion for obvious reasons [Verse 2] Oh my Aunt Jean, shе been a hippie back in the old hippie days And she came around the corner, smilin' and sayin', "I could smell you all from a mile away" So we offered, she accepted, there was no need for an explanation [Chorus] And we got stoned at the family reunion for obvious reasons [Verse 3] My Uncle Seamus, he couldn't blame us when he found us down by the swing set He said he tried it once back in 1991 and he's been looking for some ever since So he joined our circle Soon we were talking and saying things like, "did you know Mercury's day is longer than it's year man? Did you know that? It's like, something to do with the sun." We sat and pondered that for a while Then my cousin said, he's like, "You know what's weird? Isn't it weird that like, your belly button is just your old mouth?" Then my Great Grandma, she said, "You know how PJs is short for pajamas?" And we were like "yeah." And she was like, "does that mean that the P stands for 'puh'?" And then my brother-in-law's brother's wife, she said, "man, you know, if you cut a hole in a net then you actually have less holes?" And then I was like, "yeah, you know what really bothers me is that the only part of your reflection that you can lick is your tongue." And we just stared off into space for a while after that [Chorus] Oh we got stoned at the family reunion for obvious reasons [Verse 4] My brother Dan, my half sister Anne grabbed the guitars and the paints And one by one everybody disappeared without a trace After awhile, old grandpa John he wondered where everybody went And he wandered through the park as the sky grew dark And he found us down by the swing set And he saw no one was fighting, he saw every one was laughing And he ran down the hill to join the big group hug [Chorus] And we got stoned at the family reunion for obvious reasons (and one more time) We got stoned at the family reunion for obvious reasons
