The lyrics introduce Ted, a blue-collar figure found at a strip joint, playing pool and drinking beer. He's a man of simple pleasures, prone to "the occasional tear" but generally unbothered by life's grind. The recurring "Vavoom" punctuates the scene, a burst of energy from a dancer that catches both Ted's and the narrator's attention. Ted presents himself as a man who "never quit when I'm ahead," railing against "Stupid laws designed by fools."
