Lyrics

[Intro: John Peel] Well, unless I'm very much mistaken this is another program, not a concert from the BBC, in London. My name's John Peel, and you're going to hear the music of David Bowie, and, uh, a galaxy of his friends. And the first piece is called "Queen Bitch" [Verse 1: David Bowie] Up on the eleventh floor Watching the cruisers below Heart's in the basement Weekend's at an all time low He's down on the street And he's trying hard to pull sister Flo 'Cause she's hoping to score I just can't see her letting him go Right out of her heart Right out of her mind [Chorus: David Bowie] She's so swishy in satin and tat In her frock coat and bipperty-bopperty hat Oh, God, I could do better than that [Verse 2: David Bowie] She's an old-time ambassador Of sweet talking, night walking games She's known in the clubs For pushing ahead of the dames If she says she can do it Then she can do it She don't make false claims But she's a queen, and such are queens That your laughter is sucked in their brains Now she's leading him on And she'll lay him right down Yes, she's leading him on And she'll lay him right down [Refrain: David Bowie] But it could have been me Yes, it could have been me Why didn't I say, why didn't I say? No, no, no [Chorus: David Bowie] She's so swishy in satin and tat In her frock coat and bipperty-bopperty hat Oh, God, I could do better than that [Verse 3: David Bowie] So I lay down a while And I gaze at my hotel wall The bed feels so cold And it don't feel like no bed at all And I lay down a while And I gaze at my hotel wall And he's down on the street So I throw both his bags down the hall And I'm phoning a cab And my stomach is small There's room in my head Well, it's no room at all [Refrain: David Bowie] And it could have been me Yes, it could have been me Why didn't I say, why didn't I say? No, no [Chorus: David Bowie] She's so swishy in satin and tat In her frock coat and bipperty-bopperty hat Oh, God, I could do better than that [Outro: John Peel] Now, this is gonna be incredibly complicated so I want you to take notes. That was called, uh, "Queen Bitch" anyway, and it'll be on David's next LP, and, uh, at the moment he's accompanied by Mark Carr Pritchard on guitar. Now, Mark is with a group called Arnold Corns who have a single called "Moonage Daydream" which nobody on the BBC has played at all which is a great pity, and, uh, that's that, yes. And then there's Mick Ronson on lead guitar and, uh, Mick Woodmansey on drums and Trevor Bolder on bass. And they're all members of a group called Ronno. Now, Ronno are going to be making an LP fairly soon, and, uh, David is going to be involved in that, in some way or another, and David played twelve-string guitar on that, and the other member of Ronno is called Benny Marshal, although they told me to say it was Betty Marshal, but it's not. Uh, so I've hope you've got all of that clear, anyway
