Edgardo Franco, better known as El General, is a Panamanian reggae artist widely regarded as one of the pioneers of reggaeton. While often credited with popularizing the genre, El General himself prefers to describe his music as reggae en Español. Born and raised in Panama City, his unique blend of reggae rhythms, Spanish lyrics, and a touch of Panamanian sabor revolutionized Latin music in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
